Draft Journal Entries from a workpaper

Review and post draft journal entries from a completed workpaper when journal output needs accounting review, resulting in corrected entries that are ready to post.

Workflow

Step 1

Open Draft journal entries

Start in Truewind on Workpaper Agent > Templates, then use this button to send the selected workpaper into the Journal Entry drafting flow.

Step 2

The agent receives a prompt

This sends the journal-entry drafting prompt to the agent.

Step 3

The agent checks the layout

This matters because if the layout is already correct, the agent uses the existing tab. If not, the agent creates a new Truewind tab to prepare the journal entries from the workpaper data in other tabs.

Step 4

The agent checks the mapping

This gives the agent time to validate the account, payee, and dimension mappings before moving to the preview page.

Step 5

Open the Draft Journal Entry preview

This opens the preview page. If the journal entry passes Sage requirements, the status shows a green check mark and the entry is ready to post.

Click Post

This starts the Sage posting flow.

What to verify before posting

Check the account mappings, dimensions, dates, and balance state first. The current draft flow is designed for review before ERP posting.

FAQ

Why are some entries blocked instead of ready to post?

Entries are blocked when required accounts, dimensions, dates, or other validations are still missing or invalid in the draft preview.

What happens after I post the selected entries?

The eligible entries move into posting and then appear in the journal-entry workflow with updated status once the ERP posting finishes. When the full batch posts successfully, the workpaper status is set to Posted and review-flow status controls are locked.

Limitations

Draft journal entries only appear for supported templates

Not every workpaper produces draft journal entries, and the workpaper must be approved before the draft-journal-entry workflow becomes available.

Troubleshooting

The draft preview says Draft journal entries are unavailable.

Confirm the feature is enabled for the environment and that the source workpaper template supports draft journal entries.

The entries loaded, but some still will not post.

Review the blocked-entry issues and sync errors first, then fix those fields before trying to post again.

The checklist status control is disabled after posting.

This is expected once the workpaper reaches Posted. To continue workflow updates, start follow-up work in a rolled-forward or new workpaper instead of editing the posted run.
