What this workflow is for

Use this workflow when a Workpaper Agent workbook already exists and the close team needs a Checklist task to track ownership, due date, category, and month close progress for that workbook.

The linked Checklist task gives accountants a task-level place to work from while preserving the workbook in Workpaper Agent.

Confirm that you are in the correct client account and close period. The workpaper should already exist in Workpaper Agent, and the selected close period should be the period where the Checklist task belongs.

After linking

After the form is submitted, use Checklist to track the task and open the linked workpaper when the accountant needs to continue or review the workbook in Workpaper Agent.

FAQ

When should I use Link existing?

Use Link existing when the workbook is already available in Workpaper Agent and you only need to create a Checklist task that points to it.

Does this create a new workbook?

No. Link existing connects the Checklist task to a workbook that already exists in Workpaper Agent.

What should I verify before linking?

Confirm the selected workpaper, close period, task due date, and category before selecting Link workpaper task.

Limitations

The workpaper must already exist

Link existing is for connecting to an existing Workpaper Agent workbook. Use Create new when the workpaper has not been created yet.

The task is created in the selected period

Confirm the close period before submitting the form so the task appears in the intended Checklist period.

Troubleshooting

I cannot find the workpaper in the selector.

Confirm the workbook exists in Workpaper Agent for the client account, then reopen the selector and search by workpaper name.

The task appears in the wrong close period.

Review the month close period field before linking, then update the task period if your role has permission to edit it.
